Is Abrasive Blasting a Good Choice for Mold?

Blasting can physically remove mold-contaminated material from some hard surfaces, but it does not address the reason mold developed in the first place. If excess moisture, a plumbing leak, condensation, poor drainage, or elevated indoor humidity remains, the problem can return.
There is also the issue of dispersing contaminants. Aggressive blasting can generate substantial dust and potentially spread mold-containing material if the work is not carefully contained and performed with appropriate controls.
For mold concerns, the better approach is usually to identify and correct the moisture source first, determine the extent of contamination, and select a remediation method appropriate for the affected materials. Porous materials that are heavily contaminated may need removal rather than aggressive cleaning.
